Website Design and Web Site Development Projects

While working for WCNY(2007- 2009) I was involve in several web projects for internal and external clients.

Web technology and programming languages used to develop the projects are: PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, XML, Joomla - Content Management System, HTML, XHTML, CSS, Flash, Flash Video, JQuery, AJAX, Google Map API , SEO techniques and online promotions tools, and others...

Some of the examples of work at WCNY (2007-2009) are:
Interactive area maps of the New York State canal system the only one innovative project that PBS Engage (PBS innovation showcase gallery) selected from New York State and in top 30 around the country. It currently Highest Rated #6 by users ratings. Increased the number of visitors, page views, and time spent by the user on the site, we have good bounce rate… Achieved a search engine optimization (SEO score) of 96%, title relevancy .

· WCNY’s Site map with a Preview Before Visit option that none of the PBS stations has;

· Was created custom video flash play list for the State Fair 2008 (was done in 36 hours of non-stop work). NYStateFair web site link to it from it's home page. Flash video player page received about 10000 visits for only 5 days.

· Custom flash video player for “Food for Thought” ; interactive Cookbook for “Food for Thought” with the option to search/sort recipes. Our producers were able to add images/videos, and lunch recipes at the specified by the producer date.

· With a help of station's talented graphic designers, I created a verity of custom web pages for WCNY programs and documentaries such as Vision 21, NYS Contemporary Canal System Educators Guide, Business Close Up , WCNY HD Radio, This Old House at the NYS Fair, Scholastic Art, Member Card, “The Ivory Tower Half Hour” and all others. More then 185 new web pages were created compare to 35-40 pages in old website.

· Optimized the site for search engines and increased ranking from 0-4 to 5–7. By January 2009 at least 35 pages received PR 5 and about 15 with PR 6 from Google (major search engine) that allowed us to gain a significant competitive advantage and gave our site a very strong web presence.

· When people were searching for a very broad term such as ”Virtual TV” or “Podcast and Live News”, “Guide to Digital Transition”, “Business Close Up”(#2 in 2,920,000,000), “canal system map”, “Burdick family dealership”(we used to have info page for them) and many others , our web site appears as #1 or on the first page on the Google’s search result page among 1 to 120 million search results. However we did not use our website potentials in full...

· Only because of WCNY website's, that I developed (2007-2009), SEO competitive advantage www.saveNYpbs.org website was #1 on major search engines in less then 24 hours.
· I was able to setup online streaming and WCNY website (and only 3 other PBS station’s) was able to Broadcast Live Presidential Inauguration 2009...
